Responsible for providing Base Business Support for problem identification, root cause analysis, project management, financial analysis, project development, efficiency or productivity improvement, and problem resolution. Role interfaces directly with other San Lorenzo and Corporate functional groups to ensure that goals/objectives are met within GMP/ISO compliance and product design changes are addressed appropriately. Coordinate continuous improvement and productivity improvement activities on a business unit or plant level focused on OEE. Lead/Assist in the development of more effective operational control system. Evaluate data generated through studies using statistical analytical methods Responsible for the development and/or revision of production standards and Manufacturing/Packaging process to assure utilization of best process. Performs duties encompassing all process transfers and other projects in an assigned engineering specialization for the development, manufacture, installation, operation and maintenance of products, production processes and/or equipment, packaging, and other related activities. Coordinates work in conjunction with personnel assigned to specific projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manages and executes projects and/or programs of moderate to high level complexity ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, company standards, operation requirements and business needs.
  • Provides project management guidance and business tools, utilizing a systematic approach to project execution. Prepare management reports and presentations. Effective project planning and structure.
  • Sets the engineering standard and direction for the group and is recognized as the source for guidance in a field.
  • Leads the optimization of process output and throughput, equipment utilization, equipment downtime, waste reduction/yield improvements, budget management, standard cost and capital investment management in an innovative manner.
  • Provides technical support to the Production areas in evaluating process deficiencies, process changes, modifications and equipment failure. Defines, analyzes, reviews and evaluates problems for prompt solutions.
  • Coordinates phases of work with other departments within the company (San Lorenzo) and with other Ethicon divisions or Suppliers.
  • Technical support for Non-conformance issues in the manufacturing area generating root cause analysis reports and corrective action identification (Coordinates and participates on Cross Functional Investigation).
  • Work on NCR, CAPA and/or Audits Observations files from origination to full cycle completion and final approval.
  • Supports manufacturing in the day-to-day troubleshooting of equipment's.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Company Policies and Federal, State and Local Government Regulations.
  • Evaluates and reports machinery trends and OEE reports.
  • Writes, develops and implements validation procedures.
  • Leadership - provides significant contributions of project team and may lead multi-functional teams addressing large of multi-site projects. Broadens sphere of influence, including outside contracts.
  • Financial management and scheduling - Prepare project estimates for design, equipment, installation, labor, materials and other related costs. Prepare project forecast and schedules and tracks costs.
  • Assure contractors receive necessary orientation and training
  • Initiative - Works independently. Plans and develops own methods. Takes actions in the absence of specific instructions. Develops and presents new or improved methods. Solves manufacturing problems in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies (i.e., ISO14001 & OSHAS 18001)
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures

Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Engineering Bachelor's degree required; focused degree in Electrical, Mechanical and Chemical majors preferred

Skills & Experience:

Required:
  • Minimum 4 years' experience within a regulated manufacturing industry, process improvement or maintenance engineering role.
  • Experience in the Medical devices or pharmaceutical industry preferred .
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated agility to learn and adapt, lead change, and work under pressure to achieve consistently high results in quality, efficiency, and compliance through individual and team efforts
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Also, able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Preferred:
  • Experience with automated assembly and packaging equipment in the medical device manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Process Excellence (Green Belt or Black Belt) and Lean certifications are preferred.
  • Experience and working knowledge in short- and long-term project management and developing manufacturing standards are preferred.

Other:
  • Requires English and Spanish fluency (read/write/speak)
  • Requires up to 10% travel, domestic and international
  • Requires ability to work standard business hours, with flexibility to support other shifts as needed
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and other employees of the organization
