Description

Sacramento Suburban Water District is hiring an Instrumentation Technician

The Position
The Instrumentation Technician performs a variety of technical duties in the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of water production instrumentation systems. Duties include:

  • Perform comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, or mechanical equipment utilized in control systems for water facilities including, but not limited to: flow meters, switches, thermocouples, transducers, variable frequency drives, analyze equipment and telemetry equipment.
  • Analyze, test, and troubleshoot process controls and programming to identify existing and/or potential issues affecting the water system, make corrections as needed, and communicate accordingly.
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic work on a variety of instrumentation and electrical systems and equipment; make periodic preventive maintenance inspections of metering and control instruments, and diagnose existing or potential trouble; clean, lubricate, calibrate, and adjust as
  • Read, interpret and update blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, software control descriptions, mechanical drawings, manuals and specifications in making installations or performing major work.

The Instrumentation Technician is considered a “first responder” during emergency conditions; candidates must live within thirty (30) minutes travel time of the District’s Corporation Yard (5331 Walnut Avenue, Sacramento, CA  95841).



Requirements

Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Four (4) years of journey level experience working on industrial instrumentation control and electrical systems.
License:
Valid Driver’s License issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and proof of good driving record as evidenced by the absence of multiple or serious traffic violations or accidents for at least two (2) years duration. 

Certifications:

  • Possession and maintenance of a State of California Water Distribution Operator Certificate Grade D1, or ability to obtain Grade D1 certificate within 1 year of employment.
  • California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Grade II Electrical/Instrumentation Certificate or an Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society of America (ISA) Level I Certified Control Systems Technician Certificate, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.

Compensation and Benefits:

Instrumentation Technician:
$35.51 – $44.38 per hour

$73,856.23 – $92,320.28 annual salary
