Gateway Aluminum, LLC is excited to announce the start-up of our new aluminum rolling manufacturing facility located in St. Louis, Missouri. A new chapter has begun at 6100 S. Broadway. The Leadership team at Gateway Aluminum is diligently making plans to welcome fresh faces and new products to our manufacturing facility in the coming weeks. We are seeking a Casting Manager who is self-directed and initiative taking, with strong, practical, experience in Aluminum Casting and Melting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous quality improvement in accordance with company policies
  • Adhere to all JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis) and Standard Work Instructions.
  • Provides leadership in a 24/7 continuous aluminum casting/melting operation.
  • Provides direction for both hourly and salaried associates as well as plans, directs and controls activities of the department to accomplish financial objectives and meet customer requirements.
  • The successful candidate will have 5 years’ Casting/Melting experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Partner with the business leadership team to translate business strategy into actions that drive results not only within the department but within the Company.
  • Ensures strict adherence to Gateway Aluminum Safety policies and procedures.
  • Execute plant initiatives as they relate to Safety, Quality, People, Cost and Growth.
  • Work closely with the Casting/Melting associates to develop departmental Work Instructions and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) in accordance with company policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Adhere to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions.
  • Implement improvement strategies to increase safety, efficiency, quality, spend performance, and customer delivery.
  • Sets a high standard for ethics and compliance, ensuring business processes adhere to our business conduct policies and procedures.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, leads an effective team including hiring, motivating, evaluating, developing, and coaching with career development.
  • Works closely with the Plant Manager in preparation of operational budgets and coordinates capital plans, appropriation requests, and project follow up.
  • Maintains and enhances a team environment and a motivated and effective work force.
  • Work with Department Supervisors to plan, manage and evaluate the work of hourly associates with resolution of employment performance, turnover, safety and disciplinary issues.
  • Establish and monitor overall shift performance for safety, production, and quality standards.
  • Suggest and implement policies and procedures to improve safety, production methods, equipment, and operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Collaborative, on the shop floor and flexible.
  • Day-to-Day responsibility for the people, process, and production needs within the department.
  • Extensive Knowledge of casting and melting processes.
  • Ensure equipment is safe, clean, maintained, workspaces are clean, and files are organized.
  • Lead a teamwork environment that promotes safety, housekeeping, involvement & communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures with respect to manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve quality problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business or other related discipline preferred; may consider someone who has five (5) years minimum of strong practical experience in Casting and Melting.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of management skills, including managing both hourly and salaried associates and conducting performance reviews and discipline.
