Description

The Division of Electrical & Computer Engineering in the School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at Louisiana State University seeks candidates for an instructor position, starting Fall 2022, to offer sophomore- and junior-level introductory courses in digital logic, microprocessors, circuits, and related topics, and to guide senior-level students through capstone design classes. Special consideration will be given to those who can bring design experience and creative enthusiasm to capstone design instruction and those who can appeal to a diverse student population. Anticipated teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester.

The ECE division is ABET accredited in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. Areas of specialization within the division include computer graphics, computer architecture, computational accelerators, renewable energy & electrified transportation systems, wireless communication,

nanophotonic materials, and medical imaging. The interdisciplinary Center for Computation and

Technology hosts several large computing clusters and brings together faculty from engineering, scientific, and other disciplines across campus.

The ECE division is housed in the recently renovated College of Engineering building, which includes many spaces for casual student-student and student-faculty interaction.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in electrical and computer engineering.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chair.

Required Qualifications: A candidate must have completed an M.S. or Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a closely related area by August 2022. A candidate must demonstrate mastery of undergraduate material in some of the areas listed above. A candidate must have some teaching experience. Industrial experience and exposure to development projects is desirable but not required. Teaching and any instructional experience should be detailed in the CV.

Applicants must submit a Teaching Statement explaining how they would handle the learning challenges of students from varying backgrounds, and provide the encouragement needed to keep them going. potential in teaching.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. Application review is set to begin on February 1, 2022, although it may begin sooner, and will continue until a candidate is selected.
