Naval Architect  

Job Requirements

Naval Architect position requires 5+ years of experience.

A Naval Architect develops designs of marine vessels and floating structures, such as ships, barges, tugs, etc. and performs calculations necessary to assist in the design and fabrication of such vessels.

The ideal candidate must possess a B.S. degree in Naval Architecture with knowledge in vessel design development, vessel arrangements, piping system design, machinery selection, machinery design, and design integration for marine vessels such as oceangoing vessels, patrol vessels, offshore support vessels, research vessels, tugs, and barges. Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must in addition to familiarity with ABS, CFR, USCG, SOLAS, IMO and other applicable regulations. Experience with AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, Solidworks, Inventor, FEA-Nastran/Ansys/Solidworks/Maestro, GHS, Maxsurf, SHCP, NavCad, Seakeeper, Visual SMP software is a plus. The ability to multitask and work within a fast-paced environment is imperative. They should be willing to travel occasionally.

Structural Engineer  

Job Requirements

Experience and Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering discipline and minimum 5 years related experience or Master’s and minimum 3 year related experience

Description: TAI Engineers is currently seeking Structural Engineers with finite element analysis experience. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare finite element models for static as well as dynamic analyses including global strength and spectral fatigue analyses.
  • Prepare shell/solid finite element models for local strength and fatigue analysis.
  • Non-linear FEA such as contact analyses, material nonlinearity as well as geometric nonlinearities.
  • Perform code checks, including fracture and fatigue limit states to evaluate the results from structural and solid finite element analysis.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting analysis methodology, results and conclusions.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews on technical work performed by others.
  • Perform finite element structural analyses of marine structures.
  • Carrying out structural analysis using standard FEA analysis software, performing hand calculations and providing engineering conclusions based on the analysis data.
  • Performs structural design and analysis of new built as well as existing marine structures.
  • Familiar with marine engineering guidelines such as ABS Rules, DNV Rules

Work Experience Competencies and Experience:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of hands-on finite element experience using FEMAP Nastran, or a similar finite element package, to model nonlinear contact, materials and geometry.
  • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously, coupled with the ability to plan and perform work in a team environment or independently is required.
  • Experience with other common industry software such as Matlab, Python, VBA, Rhinoceros 3D, Solidworks is preferred.

Mechanical Engineer  

Job Requirements

Performs work that requires conventional engineering to develop designs of marine vessels and floating structures, such as ships, barges, tugs, etc. and performs calculations necessary to assist in the design and fabrication of such vessels.

Work Experience

  • Must possess a B.S. degree in Marine Engineering or B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years in marine vessel design.
  • Experience in design development, arrangements, piping system design, machinery selection, machinery design, production design and design integration for marine vessels such as oceangoing vessels, patrol vessels, offshore support vessels, research vessels, tugs, and barges. Alternately, design experience on complex mechanical system with similar or higher complexity to marine vessels is also acceptable.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems in one or more of the following areas is preferred. o Mechanical component and system integrations and analysis

o Mechanical powertrain system integration and analysis

o Dynamic and static design analysis

o Electro-Mechanical system design and integration.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills are a must.
  • Ability to provide technical support to designers and draftsmen for development of technical packages.
  • Familiarity with ABS, CFR, USCG, SOLAS, IMO and other applicable regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Rhino 3D, Solidworks, Inventor, and Pipe-FLO software is a plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to multitask and work within a fast-paced environment is imperative.
  • Willing to travel occasionally.
